Comics round up #3

Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard volume 2

I realise I haven’t read volume 1 yet but I can catch up. I love Mouse Guard and this volume is beautiful. It has stories from various writers and artists (including one of my favourites, Stan Sakai) all woven together in the narrative of patrons of a pub paying off their debts. I think I agree with the barkeep that the best story was the mermaid and the mouse. No words but just absolutely beautiful.

Wonder Woman: Blood
Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, Tony Atkins

Yes. I need all of these. ALL OF THEM. I haven’t read Wonder Woman in ages but this was totally an excellent story line to pick up on. Wonder Woman finding out about her lineage, a really pissed of Hera and an innocent girl in the balance. The various Olympian gods like Hermes, Hades and Poseiden all have a role to play. I love it. Can’t wait to pick up the next volume.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Avengers
Brian Michael Bendis, Steve McNiven, Sara Pichelli

My first Guardians of the Galaxy and I’m in love. Rocket Raccoon is delightfully insane. Groot is adorable. Gamora is awesome. The story is all full of cosmic intrigue, battles, captures, escapes, explosions! I want more.

House of M
Brian Michael Bendis, Oliver Coipel

I read this years ago and it’s still bloody brilliant. Scarlet Witch goes mad and starts altering all of reality. It’s amazing, it really is. I was sitting on the edge of my seat swearing and I already know what happens! Man. Brilliant.
